The most important tool for a figure skater are the skates. There are several factors to consider when choosing skates so we recommend always to contact a figure skating store when buying skates. Read more New skates must always sharp before you start skating. Sharpen your skates always in the Figure Skating shop. Blade guars must be worn as soon as leaving the ice. Blades and the mounting surfaces must be dried with a towel after skating so that the blade will stay in a good condition. When storing the skates soft fabric blade covers should be used.

Warm, elastic, preferable layered clothing keeps skating enjoyable. Clothing shoud be figure hugging to prevent skates from clinging to the clothing. Warm gloves will keep hands and fingers warm. Head wear should be sufficiently tight so it will stay in place. Children in luistelukoulu (skating school) must wear a helmet.
